Rebecca Oswald is an award-winning composer with many areas of experience and excellence. From 1980 to 1995 she was a freelance pianist, accompanist, and studio musician in Houston, Texas, during which time she also played in several bands.
In 1998 she earned her BMus in Music Theory and Composition, summa cum laude, from Westminster Choir College of Rider University. In 2001 she completed her MM in Music Composition from the University of Oregon School of Music. Today she is a full-time, self-published composer, arranger, orchestrator, producer, and pianist; she also serves as music director for the Tango Center in Eugene, Oregon.
Rebecca’s concert catalogue includes numerous works for solo instruments, various chamber ensembles, and full orchestra, plus a clarinet concerto and one choral/orchestral work. Rebecca has composed for all types and sizes of choral ensembles — accompanied or a cappella, using secular or sacred lyrics, in English and many other languages. She has also written lyrics for her own choral and popular music, as well as for other songwriters. Her music has been performed in the U.S. as well as in the U.K., Canada, France, Finland, Australia, and the Dominican Republic.
Enjoying great variety in her musical output, Rebecca composed, recorded, and produced the music for two CD-ROM strategy games and a three-hour video documentary series, and also orchestrated a feature film.
In 2005 Rebecca released October Wind, a CD of beautiful, original piano music, available online from CD Baby and Amazon, with MP3 downloads available from iTunes and other online retailers.
