Review by Kathy Parsons
Eternity is the companion songbook to Jonathan Campbell’s debut solo piano recording by the same name. I am very impressed with the album and was excited to try the sheet music as well. The book is beautifully done with full color front and back covers. All ten pieces from the album are included, transcribed in a nice roomy format on bright white paper with print that is clear and clean. The book isn’t spiral-bound, so there will be a little break-in time or props to hold the pages open for awhile. The pieces range from high energy joyfulness to more subdued and introspective, but all of them are fun to play. I noticed a fair number of notation errors, some of which make the timing a bit more difficult, but most pianists at an early-advanced or above level should be able to figure those out. It’s exciting to find such a promising young composer at the beginning of his career! The song titles, the keys they are in and the number of pages are listed below. The book is available from newerapiano.com (download or hard copy) and Amazon (books). Check it out!
